Re-Style - Get It Crackin (MOH080)
Mathijs Maas a.k.a. Re-Style was born on 13th March 1986 in Middelburg, The Netherlands. Being only 9 years old in 1995, he quickly became a big fan of the hardcore scene. In that time he was only buying some cd singles which are very popular in that time and a couple of 12” records, but it didn’t stop at just listening to the music.
At a young age Mathijs started to mix some music ( nowadays known as old school and early hardcore) with only a cassette deck and a Panasonic turntable to produce some funny mix tapes. After a while at the age of 12 years, he decided to produce his own music with the (in that time) very popular DOS-program ‘Fast Tracker 2.09’. After practicing and producing, two years later he was ready to buy his first hardware synthesizer (the Roland Alpha Juno-2) and his very first direct drive turntables. Due to the investments, his productions advanced to a higher level. He decided to send his demo’s to the infamous Masters of Hardcore record label. This step would become crucial in his career.
Together with Bass-D and Outblast he learned to improve his mastering and mixing skills, and his first tracks were released on vinyl. Re-Style debuted on Masters of Hardcore in 2002 with the “Land Of Hardcore” 12”, including the tracks “Land of Hardcore” (a collaboration with Bass-D & King Matthew) and the solotracks “Snertjong” and “Give Ya House”. After doing a 12” with Endonyx on the late label Overload Records, his legacy on Masters of Hardcore continued. Dropping bombs like “Right Here, Right Now”, “Relytser”, “Busted Choir” and “Break It Down”, Mathijs put himself in the picture as a well known DJ/ producer. This led to the great opportunity to create the Masters of Hardcore anthem “The Outbreak Of The Hardcore Psychopaths”. It was the theme of the legendary first Masters of Hardcore event in the earblasting Westfalenhallen of Dortmund (Germany).
As he also managed to become a technical master behind the wheels of steel, Mathijs got booked for the biggest events in hardcore: Masters of Hardcore, Nature One, Dominator, Thunderdome, Syndicate, Hardcore United, Hardcore4life, Megarave, Hardcore Gladiators and many other parties. After his streak of smash-records, Re-Style delivered once more with the mindblowing “Motherfuckin Bullit” E.P. on Masters of Hardcore Records. Tracks like “Motherfucking Bullit”, “Megadrunk Style” and especially “Co-Kane” were another huge success on the dancefloors and got compiled on loads of cds.
After a year of productional silence ( except for the remix of Masters of Noise’s “For All Mankind”), Re-Style managed to create his masterpiece in 2009. The 74th release on Masters of Hardcore created epidemics for all sound engineers, as the tracks on the “Asskicked” E.P. knock every subwoofer out. The Dr. Z-Vago remix of “Sacrifice” was a dark but effective track, the fantastic production “Vision” caused heatwaves due to lighters in the sky and the title track has already been called “one of the most important tracks of 2009”. As Re-Style is back in the game now, you can expect a lot from the young veteran in hardcore in the near future. New tracks are rolling out of his studio like a Formula 1-racing car: eardrumblasting and rough as hell!
